The Drive Square Simulation System is an in-vehicle driving simulator that allows trainees to drive in a real car on a virtual road. This allows for training in the field or in a training center. They set up in under twenty minutes, making them a portable training solution. Trainees also have a natural training environment; the driver can use the vehicle’s steering wheel, gas, and brake pedals, as well as turn their head to look at mirrors and windows.
Drive Square simulators for police and EVO training offer scenarios focused on a variety of First Responder driver skills. These simulators train skills such as negotiation of crowded intersections, appropriate usage of the siren and lights, staying in the appropriate lane position, driver’s situational awareness, keeping other drivers aware of a vehicle, risk management skills, and compliance with local laws. Law Enforcement specific skills that our simulators train include traffic stops, high-speed pursuits, pursuit termination, and PIT maneuver (where applicable). Scenarios are modeled after real-life situations. Drivers can be trained in a variety of dangerous driving scenarios in the safety of a parking lot. One example is integration with shooting scenarios.
Our simulators cover a wide range of additional applications, including military, fleet, driver safety education, and DUI simulations. Our simulators with realistic scenarios, validated by human factors researchers, are made through expertise in specialized hardware, simulation software and educational curricula or courseware.
The technology is easy to set up and use. First, the trainee drives his/her vehicle up on a pair of turntables. The simulator’s Bluetooth® wireless sensors are then non-invasively clipped to the pedals and other applicable controls. The driver wears full virtual reality goggles, the Head-Mounted Display (HMD), to experience a variety of driving situations. The HMD provides a 360° panoramic 3D view of the road and surrounding area to the trainee. The virtual reality simulation software, which runs on the simulator’s portable computer, generates a high-definition view of the road and terrain. It also receives data from the wheels and pedals of the vehicles to provide an extremely interactive experience. Additionally, a portable monitor allows fellow trainees to view what a trainee views during the simulation. Oculus and Gear VR are used in Drive Square’s simulators.
Due to the simulators’ wide range of applications, easy to use technology, portable set-up, customers from around the world are using them to meet their training needs. Our customers include US military, government agencies, police departments, driving schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and research institutions. Simulators can be rented or purchased for your training needs. Additionally, whenever a simulator is not being used for EVO training, it can be taken to a local school to show teenagers the dangers of drunk driving, cell phone use and texting. Some of our law enforcement customers use the simulator as a part of the D.A.R.E. program. You may even qualify for local, state or Federal grant money to purchase the simulator.
